Officials Work Pair of Car Fires Saturday
La Grange Volunteer Fire Department put out two vehicle fires Saturday evening. The first one happened around 5:24 p.m. at the corner of FM 609 and Blankenburg Ln., near the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Arena. La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee said he did not know how the fire started. The occupants were able to get out of the vehicle unharmed, he said. The second car fire happened around 9:19 p.m. on the eastbound side of SH 71 near Morgan Rd. west of La Grange. The vehicle ran off the roadway and flipped. Menefee said the vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The occupants got out of the vehicle before it caught fire. Fayette County EMS treated them at the scene but none were hospitalized. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at both fires.
Filming Returns to La Grange
La Grange was again the scene for a some filming for the HBO Max series “Love and Death.” The shoot took place on Friday, March 18, at Cottonwood Inn and on Country Club Drive. Pct. 1 Constable Billy Roensch directed traffic at the corner of Travis Street and Country Club Drive through the day on Friday. Roensch said the film crew was shooting a scene near the Buckner’s Creek bridge.
Father & Son Skydiving For Habitat Fundraiser
The old saying like father, like son, couldn’t be more true for Roger and Ben Sustr. The Sustr’s who are from Schulenburg and are self-proclaimed adrenaline junkies have decided to prove this saying by jumping this year for the 2nd Annual Habitat “Leap of Faith” Skydiving Fundraiser on April 24. However in this case it might be like son, like father since Ben jumped in last year’s skydiving fundraiser.
