85th Tomato Festival is This Weekend

Mark your calendar for the 85th Annual Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Tomato Festival planned for Friday, May 27 – Sunday, May 29. For all you great cooks out there, the festival kicksoff Friday night with Chef’s Choice Competitions.

Juneteenth Parade is Back

The Juneteenth Committee is pleased to announce the return of the Juneteenth Parade which has been on pause since COVID began in 2020. The parade will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Pursuit Ends in La Grange

Local law enforcement apprehended a man following a high-speed chase through La Grange Monday morning, May 23.

La Grange Elementary School went into a brief lockdown starting around 9:06 a.m. while the chase came through town. The Elementary School was holding field day activities at the time. All students and staff were brought into the building as a precaution. 

Krause Graduates From A&M

Madison Marie Krause graduated Cum Laude on May 12 from Texas A&M University Mays College of Business. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting. She is a 2017 graduate of Round Top Carmine High School. Madison is the daughter of Calvin and Suzanne Krause. She is the granddaughter of Esther Krause and the late Glenn Krause of Round Top and Violet Krenek and the late Robert Krenek of Fayetteville. Madison has accepted a position at PricewaterhouseCoopers Accounting Firm in Houston.

Round Top-Carmine senior Brooke David is presented a $500 check from La Grange Optimist Club president Quincy Hutchison for winning the club’s annual essay contest. David read her winning essay at the recent Optimist meeting.

St. Rose Students Attend State Meet in Fort Worth

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Schulenburg students participated in the District 7A Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) State Meet held on Saturday, May 7, at the Texas Christian University Campus in Fort Wort. Winners in the following categories and grades were:
