Growing Community Prompts Plans for Fire Station Expansion
Initial discussions have begun about building an additional bay in the fire station. Rodney Sladek, deputy fire chief for the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department stated, “With the growth in this area that we’re having, we’re looking to add a bay to the station. We got approval from City Council to look at adding on but we’re in the early stages of planning.”
Support Children and Youth in Foster Care During the School Year
The back-to-school season can bring excitement for young people as they prepare to see their classmates again, meet new teachers and students, and explore new subjects. For youth in foster care, however, starting a new school year can feel scary and uncertain because the odds are stacked against them when it comes to their educational success.

The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Post is asking for maximum participation and would really like to see new members come and see what the American Legion is all about. The Auxiliary is also inviting members to attend and support the works they do for the Veterans and their families. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
