Teen Ticketed, Two Injured in Wreck at US 90 and Interstate 10

A New Waverly teen suffered injuries after a wreck at the intersection of US 90 and Interstate 10 between Schulenburg and Weimar on Thursday.

The accident happened around 3:46 p.m., according to a crash report from DPS Trooper Louis Gabler. The report said 16-year-old Brock Edward Blevins of New Waverly was driving a black 2013 Nissan Altima west on Interstate 10 and exited at the US 90 inter section. Brenda Joy Miller, 57 of Weimar, was driving a 2014 Black Chevrolet Cruze east on US 90.

Gabler’s report stated that Blevins failed to yield the right-of-way to Miller’s vehicle. Miller attempted to take evasive action, the report stated. Miller’s car struck the left passenger side of the Blevins’ Nissan. The wreck caused major damage to the left side of the Nissan and the front of the Chevy.

Both suffered non-life threatening injuries, but they did require hospitalization. Fayette County EMS Medic 4 took Blevins to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin. Fayette County EMS Medic 1 took Miller to St. David’s Hospital in Austin. Both were wearing seat belts, and air bags went off in both vehicles

Gabler wrote Blevins a ticket for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
