St. Rose to Begin 131st Year of Teaching as First Fayette Co. School to Reopen for Fall Instruction

The St. Rose School family gathered “in spirit and faith with excitement and masks on” Monday, August 10 for the annual orientation.

It looked different this year with virtual open house videos by teachers online and a staggered pickup schedule for materials at the gym that was set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Monday including distribution of family information packets and an opportunity to meet faculty and support organization representatives.

Although different, principal Rosanne Gallia said “it felt like home being back together.”

It was all preparation as students at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School were set to started back to school on Wednesday, August 12, the first students in Fayette County to do so.

Sacred Heart in La Grange begins Thursday, and LGISD begins Aug. 20.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is beginning its 131st year.

Teachers at St. Rose have 364 years of combined teaching experience and 198 of those years at St. Rose School. Five of the teachers on staff are even former graduates of St. Rose School, bringing their passion for Catholic education to a new generation of students.
