September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Above, (from left) Marlana Fajkus, Kim Pape and Jackie Wessels of the non-profit Presley’s Power hung a gold ribbon around the big live oak tree on the courthouse lawn Monday morning, Aug. 31, to recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Fayette County Commissioners signed a proclamation last Thursday, Aug. 27, designating September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Fayette County. They also granted permission to Presley’s Power to hang the ribbon. Presley’s Power was founded in 2013 in honor of Wessels’ granddaughter, Presley Belle, who died from childhood cancer at the age of 14 months. The non-profit works to bring joy and support to children and families battling childhood cancer.
