Second Chance Emporium Slated to Resume Operations
Second Chance Emporium will resume accepting donations on Monday, June 1 and reopen for sales on Friday, June 5 adhering to state and county directives to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
To shop at Second Chance:
• Shoppers and volunteers must wear face masks or face coverings at all times.
• A limit of 75 shoppers will be allowed in at one time.
• Before entering, shoppers should sanitize their hands using a touchless sanitizing machine provided by Second Chance at store entrance.
• Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed in.
• Handheld shopping baskets will no longer be available. Customers may bring their own shopping bags. A limited number will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Shoppers should adhere to the six-foot social distancing markers outside the entrance, as well as on the floor at the checkout line.
• Shoppers should respect others by maintaining six-foot social distancing on the sales floor.
• Other safety measures may be implemented on an as-needed basis.
• Starting Friday, June 5, Second Chance will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Friday and Saturday.
To donate to Second Chance: Beginning Monday, June 1
• Make drop-offs Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Leave items outside the designated drop-off area to be sanitized before they are brought inside for processing.
• Adhere to six-foot social distancing around others making donations, as well as those manning the donations area.
• Place item(s) in the appropriate labeled shopping carts.
• Please do not leave donations after hours or drop them outside the gated area.
“We look forward to restarting Second Chance, while adhering to the guidelines set forth to keep both our volunteers and shoppers safe,” said Gayle Schielack, store director. “We will continue to monitor state and county directives regarding the COVID-19 virus and implement changes in our operations when appropriate.”
Since it was organized in 1996, Second Chance Emporium has provided $2.8 million to Fayette County non-profit charitable organizations.
