Rutersville Roll-Over Sends Two to Hospital

A La Grange woman and her daughter escaped serious injury in a vehicle rollover south of Rutersville Tuesday, September 1.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on State Highway 159 near the intersection of Rocky Creek Road. According to a report from DPS Trooper April Galvan Usher, 29-yearold Candace Serena Zachary of La Grange was driving a blue 2008 Buick LaCross north on SH 159. Her daughter, four-year-old Jaelynn Lanae Henderson, was secured in a frontfacing child seat in the rear compartment.

In her report, Usher wrote, “The driver was distracted by her child in the rear seat when she took her eyes off the roadway and entered the east ditch.”

Usher said Zachary attempted a faulty evasive maneuver. The Buick lost control and rolled on its left side. The vehicle came to rest upside down facing north.

Both Zachary’s and Henderson’s injuries were described as non-life threatening. Fayette County EMS transported her and the child to St. David’s Hospital in South Austin.
