Ron and Pam Knotts Attend Granddaughter’s Graduation

Ron and Pam Knotts recently attended the delayed graduation ceremony for their granddaughter, Keylee Simpson, in Conway, Arkansas at the University of Central Arkansas. Her five years of hard work were finally rewarded with the traditional “walk” that was postponed back in May because of COVID-19.

The school designed the ceremony to include the May and summer graduates. Careful protocols were in place, including limiting guests and having the graduates spaced out across the football field. Due to the heat, the ceremony was kept to a minimum with prerecorded video of speeches presented on the big screen. The graduates did get to walk across the stage as their names were called, but no handshakes were exchanged. The graduates and their families were grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the tradition.

The rest of the visit was full of packing and moving Keylee and her roommates to more permanent housing. Ron and Pam also enjoyed several celebratory dinner invitations that finished off a great graduation weekend.

School Starting

Muldoon has a number of teachers in the area teaching in the Flatonia, La Grange and Waelder school districts. These teachers have begun to prepare for the upcoming school year with a lot of unknowns in place. This coming school year will be like none other in the past and will have some interesting challenges for both teachers and students alike. If you see one of these educators out and about, take the time to encourage them.

Students, too, will be returning to school soon. They will be in need of some encouragement. Take the time to be kind to those who are facing some unknown challenges, and perhaps by pulling together as a community, it will be a super school year for all.

Weather

The Muldoon area has been hot and very dry. Morning clouds burn off and the afternoons are in the triple digits. Be very careful when out and about, as the heat indexes are running even higher. Be sure to stay hydrated.

Little Lending Library

Just a reminder that Muldoon does have the Little Lending Library in front of the fire station across the tracks from the Muldoon Mercantile. This resource has all kinds of books. Borrow a book or leave a book. It is a great resource for the community, so be sure to take advantage of this wonderful little sampling of reading material.
