Record Crowned Top Community Newspaper in the Texas Gulf Coast

The Fayette County Record was crowned the top semi-weekly newspaper in the greater Texas Gulf Coast area as awards were presented Friday at the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.

The Record won the Sweepstakes Award for most combined category wins, edging The Polk County Enterprise and the El Campo Leader News, which finished tied for second in Sweepstakes. Overall the Record placed in 14 categories.

Judging was done by members of the Panhandle Press Association and was for work done during the 2019 calendar year.
