Donations Open
Second Chance Emporium will resume accepting donations on Monday, June 1, and reopen for sales on Friday, June 5, adhering to state and county directives to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. To donate to Second Chance: make drop-offs Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Leave items outside the designated drop-off area to be sanitized before they are brought inside for processing. Adhere to six-foot social distancing around others making donations, as well as those manning the donations area.
Second Chance
Second Chance will be open 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each Friday and Saturday starting Friday, June 5. Shoppers and volunteers must wear face masks or face coverings at all times. A limit of 75 shoppers will be allowed in at one time. Before entering, shoppers should sanitize their hands using a touchless sanitizing machine provided by Second Chance at the store entrance, children under the age of 16 will not be allowed in. Handheld shopping baskets will no longer be available. Customers may bring their own shopping bags. A limited number will be provided on a first-come, firstserved basis.
Fayette County Retired Teachers
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association meeting scheduled for June 8 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meetings hopefully will resume in September. For more information, visit www.localunits/Fayette.org or call (361)772-3068.
LG Hermann Sons Meeting
The La Grange Hermann Sons Lodge No. 8 will resume their monthly meetings on Thursday, June 11 at Riverside Cafe located at 1225 Carroll Lane in La Grange starting at 11 a.m. All members are invited to attend.
St. Rose Church Fundraiser
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg will hold a fundraiser on Sunday, June 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 405 South St. A drive-through meal featuring fried chicken, sausage and all the trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. at the K. of C. Hall. Adult plates will be $10. Tickets for the sweepstakes drawing will also be available. The fund-raiser will include an online auction. Bids will be accepted from Friday, June 12 through Friday, June 19. Once on the auction website, choose “auction items” from the menu at the top to view items or get more info. You must register to bid on an item but you don’t have to enter a credit card to register. Guettler Reunion Cancelled

LG Juneteenth Celebration Cancelled
This year’s La Grange Juneteenth Celebration has been cancelled due to safety measures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Another event will be scheduled later this year by the La Grange Juneteenth Committee.
La Grange Art Stroll Rescheduled
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Art Stroll planning committee has rescheduled the event to Sept. 12. This new date will give time to push out advertising and awareness to keep this event alive.
Round Top-Carmine Reunion Cancelled This year’s reunion of the Round Top-Carmine class of 1961 has been cancelled due to safety measures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The reunion will be rescheduled in 2021.
