Water Restrictions

Due to the recent rain and two water wells being back in service, La Grange Utilities has lifted the restrictions that were implemented in Phase II of the Drought Contingency Plan. The city will continue to monitor the daily water consumption and keep customers informed of any changes. Everyone is encouraged to continue voluntarily reducing their water usage.

Fayetteville Trash

The City of Fayetteville trash grounds hours for Fridays will change to 1 to 5 p.m. beginning Friday, Sept. 4. The City of Fayetteville trash grounds will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. except on City holidays.

St. James BBQ

The Holy Smokers are restarting the pits. The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H.E.B. A half chicken will be $3.50 and a sausage link $5, drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of Fayette County Helpers. The Holy Smokers will be observing COVID protocols.

Liberty Matters

Anyone interested in joining like-minded individuals in the pursuit of liberty is welcome to join others in peaceful demonstration on Saturday, Sept. 12 on the town square in La Grange from 5-8 p.m. To participate or for more information, email: libertymatters7@gmail.com.

Parkinson’s Support Group

Anyone struggling with Parkinson’s disease is invited to join a support group held the third Thursday of every month in La Grange. The support group is for patients and caregivers. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church parlor located at 121 S. College Street near Tejas Health Care. For more information, call (832) 561-1447.

Shelby Hermann Sons Life

The meeting scheduled for August has been rescheduled for Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. and members are asked to bring snacks.

Bluebonnet Opry Shows Cancelled

The Board of Directors of the Bluebonnet Opry have made the decision to cancel the monthly opry shows until November or December. The safety for everyone was taken into consideration and felt this is the best decision.

LG Show Fund Meeting

The La Grange Show Fund meeting will be held Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. This is a mandatory sign up meeting for the upcoming year 2020-2021. If you have any questions, reach out to Wayne Michalke at (979) 966-2723.

Fayette County Retired Teachers

Due to COVID-19, Fayette County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) will meet via Zoom video conferencing for the remainder of 2020. The first meeting will be Sept. 14. The FCRTA board needs all members to ensure they have your current email in order to receive the link for the September meeting. LHS Class of 1960 Reunion Meeting

The La Grange High School Class of 1960 will have a planning meeting to discuss when, if at all and where the class would meet to celebrate their 60th class reunion. Such meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Sealand Restaurant in La Grange. All interested classmates are invited to attend such planning meeting. Republican Women Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Oakridge Smokehouse Restaurant, 712 N. US Hwy. 77, in Schulenburg. Social time starts at 6 p.m. with the business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Speaker will be Fayette County Elections Administrator Terri Hefner. Terri has served as Elections Administrator of Fayette County since August 2016. She is responsible for all federal, state, and county elections. Additionally, cities, school districts, and political subdivisions contract with the office to conduct their elections. Terri is responsible for all voting equipment including testing, maintenance, storage, rental, and transport to voting locations. She serves as the County Voter Registrar, and supervises all voter registration for the county. She accepts appointments of campaign treasurers and other filings related to campaign finance. Fayetteville Reunion Rescheduled

The annual Fayetteville High School and St. John’s School Reunion has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. It has been rescheduled for Sept. 18, 2021 at the Heh Remember When Dancehall near Fayetteville. The class of 1970 and 1971 will host the Reunion. Please save the date.

West Navidad Wildlife Management

West Navidad Wildlife Management Association general meeting will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Rockin “W” sale barn on Highway 77. The blue barn is approximately 2.5 miles north of Schulenburg on the west side of Highway 77. The social will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a meal, auction, and raffle. Grant Applications

Fayette Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for all local non-profits. The simple grant application can be found online at fayettecommunityfoundation.org along with pertinent information. Applications need to be in by Sept. 30.

Halloween Trunk or Treat

The First Baptist Church in La Grange will hold a drive-thru Trunk or Treat Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. First Baptist Church is located at 5000 W. State Hwy. 71 in La Grange.
