Police Investigating Political Sign Theft

La Grange Police are looking for the person or group responsible for stealing political yard signs from private property in La Grange.

Police Chief David Gilbreath reported that approximately 20 yard signs have been stolen so far this month, mostly on the north side of town.

“The thief is specifically targeting Biden campaign signs and anti-Trump signs that one local resident had printed and paid for out of his own pocket,” Gilbreath said.

Gilbreath said stealing campaign signs constitutes theft of property, and entering someone’s property to steal signs is considered criminal trespassing.

“If you see anyone removing a political yard sign, please contact the La Grange Police Department or the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office immediately by calling (979) 968-5856,” Gilbreath said.
