Patriotism on Display at Muldoon’s 250th Birthday Celebration for America

Muldoon came together to have a wonderful celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday on Saturday, July 4. What a great day it was. It was a warm, but not overly hot day with a slight breeze to cool the parade participants. Everyone really enjoyed the new parade route that did not just come by once, but twice. It was fun to see “parade 2.0” as it was dubbed by one individual who enjoyed a second chance to see those in the parade a second time as they came back by.

In attendance to oversee the parade as it passed was the parade originator, Billy Rightmer along with her husband Harold Rightmer. Billy started the parade to show Muldoon patriotism and this parade did just that with lots of youngsters showing their ongoing enthusiasm.

The parade started right on time and did not disappoint with fun and enthusiasm. There were fire trucks, floats, bike riders, side by sides, cheerleaders, mascots, horses and lots of candy and other fun items that were tossed by parade participants. If you missed it, go ahead and start thinking about next year.

After the parade everyone traveled over to the park to enjoy loads of fun visiting, playing games, bidding on some really nice auction items. It was a nice crowd that enjoyed all the improvements that were made by the county with the coordination of the new park board. The maintenance done on the fans, lights, and other things around the park were defiantly noted and enjoyed by all. If you see any of the new board members, be sure to stop them and thank them for all their hard work putting together such a great gathering and the improvements that they have assisted with.

Thank you to all that donated items to the auction and helped out with all the activities. It was a much-appreciated effort that helped raise funds to keep improving the park and pay for any bills that are incurred for upkeep. And the fun could not have happened without all the volunteer help. The park is a great asset to the community and with the new board bringing the park back alive for community events, it is sure to just get even better from here.

The Muldoon Museum was open on July 4th prior to the big parade. There were a number of visitors who marveled at what all the museum held. If you have not had the chance to stop by and see the great exhibits, make plans to come by and peruse all the history on display. The next open morning will be August 1. The museum would like to thank all who left a donation to keep this preservation of history operational. Out and About
