NVCC Opens for Games, Closes Again Due to COVID-19

Pictured are Elroy Dieringer, Betty Gabler, Carolyn Moore and Irene Janda who showed up to play dominos at NVCC last monday.
Carol Ann Thacker, outfitted with her shield and neck mask, sits at her desk last Monday. NVCC had four desks donated to them from a Houston office which closed. The desks had been sitting in a barn because there was no room for them. NVCC appreciates Chip Bubela and Coy Romine who picked up the desks and moved them in.

Navidad Valley Community Connections (NVCC) resumed its domino games on Monday and Wednesday. A total of eight players joined for several hours and had a great time.

NVCC was hoping to, on a careful basis, be able to at least provide some socialization for members. It was then announced that COVID-19 positive cases were up in Precinct 4 of Fayette County. NVCC has made the decision to close again. Besides the recommendation of Fayette County Emergency Management, NVCC follows the lead of the City of Schulenburg. The lobby at City Hall is closed, so NVCC has followed suit.

Due to the social isolation situation, NVCC would like to start up a telephone tree. NVCC is looking for volunteers to call members and anyone else who just wants to chat from time to time. If you are interested in joining in this endeavor, either as a caller or a recipient, contact Nancy Hay at (979) 561-5092 to register.

NVCC is still making masks. If you or anyone you know needs one, call Nancy to inquire. NVCC also has some great children’s masks and do custom work.

NVCC reminds members to stay vigilant to avoid scams. Members should be aware of the unsolicited seeds from China. Another is a call stating you have been in contact with COVID-19.

Keep updated by following Navidad Valley Community Connections on facebook or online at www.navidadvalleycc. com. The website is also kept current, so that’s a great reference as well. NVCC is a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide a multipurpose organization that initiates, sponsors and promotes activities, events and projects that enhance the quality of life for senior citizens.
