No Sleeping on the Porch of the Church
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 23-30.
Wake Up
On Aug. 27, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 300 block of S. Franklin for a subject sleeping on the front porch of the church. Subject was identified and was known to the officer. Subject complied with request to leave the premises.
Accident
On Aug. 24, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Colorado in regard to an accident in the parking lot. Officer met with complainant and issued blue form.
On Aug. 25, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Lowerline for a minor accident.
Animal Complaint
On Aug. 24, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a loose bull on the feeder road in the eastbound 71 feeder at Highway 77. A bull had run onto the highway and the officer was able to get the bull put in the pasture.
On Aug. 25, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Travis for a dog left in a vehicle. Officer arrived on location and located the vehicle. The vehicle was running and had the air conditioner on. Officer spoke with the driver who was only in the store a short time and the dog was not overheated in any way.
On Aug. 27, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1900 block of State Highway 71 Business in reference to an animal in car.
Burglary
On Aug. 23, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of an attempted burglary in the 200 block of E. Pearl. Officer took report.
Citizen Assist
On Aug. 29, Meinardus received a call from individual that stated she heard that the police were looking for her. Officer made contact with the individual in the 400 block of N. Vail and found she had no warrant and call was cleared.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 25, Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of Northwest Circle in regard to a civil matter.
On Aug. 25, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of Northpointe Avenue in regard to a civil matter.
On Aug. 26, Mohr received a call of a civil dispute between a business and a tenant in the 1400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer advised them it was not a criminal matter.
On Aug. 27, Currington was dispatched to the 1700 block of Highway 71 Business for a civil matter. Officer stood by while subjects were given refunds.
Disorderly Conduct
On Aug. 24, Maxwell was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place in regard to an irate patient. Officer stayed with subject until the subject was no longer irate towards the emergency room staff.
On Aug. 27, Mohr received a call of a noise complaint at an apartment in the 1000 block of N. Madison. Upon arrival officer found the people that were supposed to be making the noise were asleep.
Evading Arrest
On Aug. 26, Wostarek attempted to stop a vehicle in the 200 block of W. Travis and the vehicle fled from the officer. The pursuit was terminated due to public safety.
Found Property
On Aug. 23, Currington met with a subject in the 100 block of E. 71 Bypass where subject had found a backpack. Officer took the backpack to the police station.
Family Violence
On Aug. 25, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of E. Lafayette where the caller stated that a subject assaulted her during an argument. Officer gathered the information and completed a report to be presented to the county attorney’s office.
On Aug. 29, Wostarek was dispatched to a disturbance in the 700 block of S. Madison. Officer arrived and spoke with both subjects. Subjects were separated for the night.
On Aug. 30, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Pecan for a disturbance. Officer spoke with both subjects and gathered information.
Harassment
On Aug. 28, Meinardus spoke with individual in the 500 block of S. Vail in regard to a protective order. Complainant advised they were walking home and saw a subject that the complainant has a protective order on. The complainant believes the subject is stalking and harassing complainant.
Missing Child On Aug. 26, Mohr received
On Aug. 26, Mohr received a call of a missing child in the 400 block of S. Vail. Officers began searching for the child until the child was found.
Parking Violation
On Aug. 29, Maxwell was advised of multiple vehicles parked on N. Vail and E. Fannin and that subjects were loitering in the street.
Reckless Driving
On Aug. 25, Wostarek was dispatched to a reckless driver in the 900 block of N. Jefferson. Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver who stated that he was looking for a place to rest before completing his drive.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Aug. 24, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of Ella in regard to a suspicious person that knocked on her garage door. Officer arrived and searched the area but was unable to locate anyone.
On Aug. 26, Zwahr responded to a call at the splash pad in the 600 block of E. Pearl. Officer spoke with subject and no offense had occurred.
On Aug. 26, Wostarek was dispatched to the 600 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass in regard to a suspicious person. Officer arrived and located the subject and the subject left after speaking with the officer.
On Aug. 26, Zwahr responded to the 400 block of N. Vail for a suspicious person in front of the caller’s home. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate the subject.
On Aug. 27, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in the 700 block of E. Upperline. Officer located the subject.
On Aug. 28, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 100 block of S. Brown in reference to several juveniles hanging out behind the building. Subjects were advised to leave.
On Aug. 25, Maxwell was dispatched to the 900 block of Hanacek in regard to a suspicious person in a vehicle. The subject did not have a valid drivers license. Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 25, Koehne stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 700 block of E. Travis. Driver did not have a license and vehicle was impounded.
Theft
On Aug. 27, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in reference to a theft and property left behind. Officer took information and issued citation.
On Aug. 27, Zwahr responded to a theft in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Subject was arrested and transported to jail.
On Aug. 27, Zwahr took information for a theft report in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Warrant Arrest
On Aug. 28, Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ellinger in regard to a male subject that was refusing to leave after being asked to. The male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant and transported to jail.
On Aug. 28, Wostarek arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant in the 400 block of N. Vail. Subject was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and released to jail staff.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 23, Currington checked on elderly subject digging in the trash in the 400 block of S. Jefferson. Subject was fine and was sorting his recycling.
Miscellaneous
On Aug. 24, Koehne responded to illegal burning in the 200 block of S. Jefferson. Officer checked the area but no fire was located.
On Aug. 25, Koehne arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant in the 1900 block of Highway 71 Business. Subject was also in possession of marijuana. Subject was transported to jail.
On Aug. 25, Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass in regard to loud music. Officer was unable to locate any loud music.
On Aug. 25, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a subject that was turning himself in.
