New Homecoming Events (Including a Parade) Getting Organized in LG

La Grange’s homecoming isn’t until Oct. 9 but two new activities from the Booster Club already have locals excited – and painting the two purple and gold.

The boosters are reviving the business window decorating contest in town – and having the first ever homecoming parade.

The window decorating contest is free to enter but must be completed by Sept. 30 for judging. Call 979-5259476 to officially enter.

Meanwhile, the parade lineup is already set, and has 30 entries.

The parade will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7, starting at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to watch. Candy and appropriate items are allowed to be tossed to spectators.

Participants will be lined up waiting in the parking lot in front of the auditorium on the elementary campus, and the parade will start on Vail Street. Entrants will proceed out of the parking lot onto Vail, where they’ll go south, straight down to the football field where everyone will file into the stadium for the Community Pep Rally event which is immediately following the parade.

Vail Street will be closed by the city for other traffic during the event.
