Muldoon Community Garage Sale a Success

The big community garage sale in downtown Muldoon was a success. There were seven vendors of all kinds of goods. Buyers came from all over to meander through the goodies and find some real bargains, thus helping clean out a few garages and storage spaces. It also was a great way for everyone to get a chance to visit out in the open air with lots of space. Meanwhile, those unused goods made their way home to a useful spot in someone else’s home. What a great way to recycle.

Birthday Celebration

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky were thrilled to finally be able to have their grandkids over for some country fun. The grandkids, Olivia, Conner and Hunter, all came in from Austin and Katy to spend some longawaited time with their grandparents. Their parents, Summer Smith and Ben Williams and Jennifer and Kenny Dong, also got a chance to catch up with each other while the kids all got to play together.

After some tasty lunch, some outdoor fun was had in the pool, on an egg scavenger hunt and also the usual bug hunt. They were successful this time, with the capture of a large walking stick, some grasshoppers, frogs and more. It was a very fun “catch and release” hunt for the kids.

The big event of the gathering was the celebration of Olivia’s third birthday. They were celebrating early, but Olivia didn’t care and enjoyed cake and presents. Everyone, both young and old, had a really good time and cannot wait to get back together again.

Little Lending Library

Muldoon is fortunate to have a Little Lending Library from which to borrow or leave a book to read. The Little Lending Library is located in front of the fire station across the tracks from the Stone Store. There are new books coming through all the time. Drop by and check it out.

Carolyn Caflisch recently upgraded the sides of the box to be more patriotic for both the Memorial Day holiday and through the Fourth of July. The DAR also has reworked the selection. It’s such a blessing to have this resource in our community.

Weather

The weather in Muldoon has included pleasant, cool mornings and hot afternoons as of late. A few drops of rain fell (but not measurable amount) as the front pushed through. Things are getting rather dry. Please take caution when out and about; things burn a whole lot easier with the lower humidity levels.

Out and About

Antoinette and Chris Joplin enjoyed a visit from Antoinette’s aunt Helen Morrow of Harwood, who came over on Sunday afternoon to see the Joplin’s new home and visit for a while. They also enjoyed a visit from Steve and Debbie Bowyer from Houston. The Bowyers brought their grandkids with them, Jillian and Katy, to visit the goats and cattle out in the country.
