Moulton’s Chief of Police Mitchell Bennett announced via his Facebook page that he and two members of his family have tested positive for COVID-19.

• A Shiner man has filed a lawsuit in the 25th Judicial District Court specifically naming the City of Shiner, officers on that town’s police force and several other Lavaca County elected officials of allegedly acting as co-conspirators in an ongoing discrimination case against him. The Houston area Bryant Law Firm officially filed the 30-page suit on May 14 on behalf of John Harrington, 45, who resides and until recently operated several businesses within the Shiner area. The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages. Harrington filed a similar lawsuit with the federal court system in Victoria in 2019, which ultimately was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds.

• An employee of the Blue Bell Creameries facility in Brenham has tested positive for COVID-19. According to a press release the company issued, the employee is currently quarantined and under medical supervision. No details are being released to preserve his/her privacy. The company did not provide any information regarding when the employee tested positive for the virus. Blue Bell also said it has taken cautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
• A Washington County two-year-old child lost their life on the night of May 19 in an apparent accidental drowning. Sheriff Otto Hanak said his deputies responded to the 6400 block of Hummingbird Road on Tuesday night and assisted EMS personnel with a child who wasn’t breathing. Hanak said, “They tried. They did what they could to save that baby’s life, but it didn’t work out and the baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
Giddings
A pair of young men from California who between them have more than 13 million followers on the social media platform TikTok were arrested this week for possession of marijuana in Giddings.
Jaden Hossler, 19, and Bryce Hall, 20, were arrested Monday in Lee County under drug charges, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
The duo are on a cross country road trip which they are documenting on social media.
