Martin Luther Lutheran Church Services to Resume
Martin Luther Lutheran Church will resume Saturday and Sunday worship services beginning June 6 and 7. The Saturday service is at 6 p.m. and the Sunday service at 10 a.m. Precautionary guidelines will be followed. The service will also be on the website.
The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
AA meets Sunday at 5 p.m.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD High School graduation will be held outdoors at The Institute at Festival Hill on June 5 at 7 p.m. There will be no eighth grade promotion. Guidelines will have to be followed to make the event possible. Seniors will be allowed ten guests, and these names will need to be sent to the high school principal. Those names will be placed on a guest list that will not be subject to change. In case of inclement weather, the date will be postponed to June 6. Classes are planned to resume on Aug. 19 for the 2020- 2021 school year.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department’s Fireman’s Feast in July has been cancelled. There may possibly be some type of fundraiser later in the year.
The department responded to a mutual call with the Ledbetter Fire Department for a hay/ barn fire.
Heritage Committee
The Heritage Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will not meet on June 4. The next meeting will be on Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. at the depot, with the topic “Educational Memories,” from the old school. Questions and discussions are welcome. Please invite others who are interested in the history of the area to join in the session on Sept. 2.
Reunion Cancelled
The Eichler Reunion scheduled for June 7 at the La Bahia Hall has been cancelled.
Carmine City Park
Come enjoy the new walking trails at the Carmine City Park. The playscapes, restrooms and water fountain are still closed.
Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Recycling
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors of glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open. Do not bring items when they are not there.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
