Man Lying in Cemetery Investigated, Found to Be Tired Not Dead
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports the following incidents his department responded to from July 25- Aug. 2.
Strange Sight
July 29- Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a male lying on the ground at the cemetery in the 900 block of E. Travis. Upon arrival at the location officer was unable to locate the subject but did locate the subject walking eastbound on the street. Officer checked the person’s welfare and he said he had become tired but was fine.
Animal Complaint
Aug. 1- Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 1200 block of N. Jefferson where complainant stated that his neighbor’s dogs got out of the yard and this is an ongoing problem. Officer could not make contact with the subjects due to the locked gate. The officer is attempting to locate the dogs’ owner to give a written warning for dogs being out.
Alarm
Aug. 1- Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 5400 block of S. Vail in regard to a doorbell alarm that went off. Caller stated that a vehicle was parked in front of the residence. Officer checked the residence and found everything to be fine.
Accident
July 27- Meinardus spoke to a caller who stated he went to Walmart and when he returned home he noticed that the tailgate and the taillight of his vehicle were damaged. Caller was unsure if it occurred at the parking lot, but his insurance advised him to contact the police.
July 31- Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Lowerline in regard to a twovehicle accident. Officer met with both drivers who advised officer that they were going to exchange information and did not need an accident report.
Assault
July 30- Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a call of an assault in the 300 block of N. Horton.
Civil Matter
July 27- Meinardus spoke with a caller in regard to her employer withholding her paycheck. Officer advised her to contact the justice of the peace to work out the problem.
Citizen Assist
Aug. 1- Meinardus responded to the 800 block of N. Eckel where complainant stated that his roommates invited some friends over then left the location and he wanted the subjects to leave. Officer went to the subjects and informed them that they had to leave the premises, which they did.
Aug. 1- Maxwell responded to the 500 block of N. Franklin where subject stated that she was locked out of her residence. Officer was able to help subject gain entry into her residence.
Criminal Mischief
Aug. 1- Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Eckel in regard to a verbal disturbance. Officer upon arrival spoke with complainant who advised a female subject damaged her vehicle. Officer arrested female subject for criminal mischief.
Family Violence
July 30- Zwahr responded to a verbal dispute in the 300 block of Woodhollow. Parties were separated.
Harassment
July 30- Mohr received a call about a customer being irate and instigating other patrons in the store in the 400 block of E. Travis.
Runaway
July 27- Maxwell was dispatched to the 300 block of Diers Lane in regard to a missing person. Officer was able to locate the juvenile and a male subject was arrested for harboring a runaway child.
Reckless Driving
July 26- Mohr received a call of a reckless driver in the 1000 block of N. Jefferson. Officer located the driver.
Aug. 1- Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jefferson for a possibly intoxicated driver. Caller stated that the vehicle was a black Dodge pickup. The vehicle left prior to officer’s arrival and the officer searched the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Suspicious Person
July 29- Wostarek was dispatched to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass in regard to a suspicious person. Officer arrived on location and located a vehicle with a fictitious plate. Officer took information.
July 30- Officer Cari Haman was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Travis and identified a suspicious male subject on the property. Subject was using wifi and waiting for a friend to pick him up.
Aug. 1- Wostarek was dispatched to the 1000 block of Highway 159 in regard to a female subject holding a shovel in the roadway. Officer arrived and searched the area but the female subject was gone.
Aug. 1- Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Jefferson where caller stated that someone was ringing her doorbell. Officer upon arrival searched the area but was unable to locate anyone in the area.
Suspicious Vehicle
July 26- Haman checked a vehicle that was parked at the back of the fairgrounds property in the 1700 block of N. Jefferson. Vehicle was secure and no occupants could be located.
Verbal Dispute
Aug. 1- Maxwell was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Eckel Street in regard to a verbal dispute.
Protective Order
Aug. 1- Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Vail where caller stated that a subject who has a protective order against them was at their house. The subject left prior to officer’s arrival. Officer took information for an incident report.
Welfare Check July 26- Sgt. Travis Ander
July 26- Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call to check on the welfare of a resident in the 500 block of Cindy Lane.
July 27- Wostarek was dispatched to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 in regard to a welfare check on a male subject. Officer arrived on location and located the subject. Subject stated all was fine.
July 28- Patrolman Brian Adams was advised of three young children unattended in a vehicle in the 1900 block of Highway 71 Business. Adams located vehicle and the parent of the children. Children were found to be of age to legally be left unattended in the vehicle. No violation committed.
July 29- Anderson received a call to check on a 93-year old female resident in the 400 block of S. Lester.
Aug. 1- Sergeant Justin Koehne did a welfare check in the 700 block of S. Washington. Officer made contact with subject and all was fine.
Aug. 1- Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Guadalupe in regard to a subject who appeared to be asleep in their vehicle. Officer arrived on location and searched the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Warrant Arrest
Aug. 1- Koehne arrested a subject on an outstanding felony warrant in the 200 block of E. Travis.
Miscellaneous
July 26- Haman responded to the Bealls’ parking lot in the 200 block of Ellinger Road in reference to a male subject who appeared upset and was growling at people. Subject was advised to go back to his residence.
July 27- Mohr responded to the 1000 block of N. Madison for loud noise and people talking. Officer arrived and was unable to locate anyone.
July 27- Meinardus spoke to complainant in regard to someone dumping trash in their dumpster in the 200 block of W. Travis. They provided a license plate number for the vehicle but it does not come back to a vehicle matching the description.
July 28- Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Jefferson for a person staying in a vacant room. Officer arrived on location and spoke to a male subject who stated he had just moved in. Officer verified with owner and the subject was renting the room.
July 29- Anderson received a call to check on an 18-wheeler parked on the wrong side of the roadway in the 100 block of E. Crockett.
July 29- Zwahr received a call of loud music in the 400 block of S Franklin. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate the music.
July 31- Maxwell was dispatched to the 900 block of S. Madison in regard to people soliciting and trying to sell home security systems. Officer advised the caller the company had a valid permit with the city.
