Local Free Art After School Programs Open, Expanded

ARTS, based in Fayetteville, continues to expand its programs. As the 2020-2021 school year opens, youth and adults in the South Central Texas region will have the opportunity to participate in the growing art programs. ARTS believes that its programs help people develop creative thinking, problem solving skills, develop leadership skills, aid in learning and school performance along with individuals with personal expression that transcends language.

September kicks off the programs with free visual arts and music classes as part of the Art After School programs. The classes are scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 14. This fall ARTS will be offering the classes on multiple campuses but in two formats. The traditional Art After School classes will be offered in Fayetteville at the Schmid ARTS Annex. Classes are also planned for La Grange and Schulenburg. ARTS plans to offer additional classes in Weimar, Round Top and Flatonia. Nature/Art classes are also planned to begin in the fall. The classes that are currently scheduled and open for enrollment are:

La Grange Sacred Heart Art Classes: Grade 4, Mondays beginning Sept. 14.

Homeschoolers - La Grange & surrounding areas; the Remnant Academy: Thursdays starting Oct. 1

Fayetteville - Art Classes: Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6, Tuesdays beginning Sept. 15.

Ukulele Classes: Grades 4-8, Thursdays beginning Sept. 17.

Schulenburg - Art Classes: Grades 4-8, Tuesdays beginning Sept. 29

The classes are offered to children who are attending the live public school classes. They are open to homeschooled children as well if they choose to attend. However, in addition, ARTS has initiated a group of classes to be offered to children who have opted for virtual learning and home schooling in order to not attend a public campus. These classes will be conducted by teachers that do not work in the public classrooms.
