LG’s Sacred Heart to Get New Priest After Carbajal Resigns
Father Alberto Carbajal, who has been the pastor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange for the past year resigned his position as pastor last week.
The church congregation was informed over the weekend. Father James Misko, the Vicar General for the Diocese of Austin said the diocese hopes to have a replacement announced in the next couple of weeks, but until then, visiting priests will say Mass at Sacred Heart.
“He resigned for personal reasons and the Bishop honored that resignation,” Misko said. “He’s taking some time out of ministry to work on some things, and the Bishop is discerning a new pastor for Sacred Heart right now.”
“Father Alberto remains an ordained priest, he’s just taking some time to work on some things, taking a breather ... He was very grateful for the time he was able to be in La Grange. He wishes everyone the best. He’s going to continue on his journey as a priest, but he is taking time out of active ministry.”
