LG Protest Organizer: ‘Change Starts Little by Little’

The Black Lives Matter movement has gained massive momentum in working towards equality all around the nation. In an effort to keep that momentum going, La Grange community member Daziah Brown is planning to bring a peaceful protest to town.

It will take place at White Rock Park on Saturday, June 20, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Brown wanted to organize a protest for La Grange community members in an effort to allow locals to speak out without worrying about potential safety risks that many city protests have. She plans for the protest to be for all youth and adults in La Grange who want to support the Black Lives Matter movement peacefully.

“I want this to be an opportunity for those that cannot attend a protest elsewhere,” Brown said in a Facebook post, “This is going to be an opportunity for your voices to be heard and for us to be a part of this amazing movement.”

Brown has stated many ways on her social media on how the community can help the Black Lives Matter movement and the protest to succeed. Some of those ways are planning to donate water, hand sanitizer and snacks for any kids attending, volunteering to help ensure the protest runs smoothly, signing petitions and donating to organizations that support Black Lives Matter.

Brown has also begun selling shirts that can be worn by those planning to attend the protest. Brown will be using the money from the shirts to purchase the materials needed to make them and leftover proceeds will be donated to a Black Lives Matter organization or fund. “Change starts little by little,” Brown said, “Why not start it here, too.”
