On Thursday, Sept. 7, the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 Auxiliary delivered donations for veterans comfort when hospitalized to Becky Leer of the La Grange Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Ten backpacks were provided that included new t-shirts, underwear, socks, sweat suits, stocking caps, and toiletries for men and women veterans. Post #338 Auxiliary’s donation will be combined with the La Grange American Legion Post #102 Auxiliary and VFW Post #254 Auxiliary to be distributed at the La Grange VA Clinic for those vets who are being admitted to VA hospitals or similar care facilities.

This is a project that was developed by the La Grange VFW and expanded to include Round Top-Carmine through the meetings of incorporation of the Veterans Appreciation of Texas Foundation, a 501(c) (3) charitable organization recognized by the Texas Secretary of State and the IRS.

Donation of new items in sizes of medium, large and extra large can be made by contacting your local VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 Auxiliary gives special thanks to Second Chance Emporium of La Grange where many of the items have been procured and the doctors, nurses, and staff of the VA Clinic who help identify the needs and help with the distribution. These gifts are provided so veterans will have clean and warm clothing upon leaving the hospital.

The Nov. 5 meeting is at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Winedale, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, and Ruttersville area are encouraged to join Post #338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.
