La Grange Police Respond to Several Accidents
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following activities his department responded to during the week of July 12-19.
Accident
On July 13, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller was unloading a vehicle from a tractor-trailer when another vehicle struck the vehicle being loaded off. Minor damage was done to both vehicles.
On July 17, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell responded to the 700 block of W. Travis in regard to a boat trailer being damaged at the location. A blue form was issued to the complainant.
On July 17, Maxwell was dispatched to the 2100 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to an accident that occurred in the parking lot. The driver of the vehicle was issued a blue form.
On July 17, Patrolman Justin Koehne worked a hit and run accident in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. The other vehicle was later located and information was obtained.
On July 17, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of N. Franklin for a two vehicle minor accident with no injuries. Officer gathered the driver’s information.
On July 17, Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in regard to a two-vehicle accident that happened in the parking lot. Officer issued each driver a blue form and had them both exchange information.
On July 18, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of N. Washington where individual ran over the curb and popped his tires. Vehicle was out of the roadway and no damage was done to other property. Caller left the vehicle on private property until his parents returned to town to help him get it.
Assault
On July 12, Patrolman David Mohr observed a female crying on the side of the road in the 1500 block of N. Jefferson. Officer stopped for assistance and found it was a domestic violence victim of an assault that had just occurred.
Animal Complaint
On July 16, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a call of a loose calf located at the Rocky Creek Road and State Highway 71 feeder. At the scene the calf had ran down a creek bottom.
On July 19, Meinardus responded to the 1200 block of N. Jefferson where complainant stated that his neighbor’s dogs continuously bark and one of them got out that morning. He stated that this is an ongoing problem and has reported it previously.
COVID-19
On July 14, Maxwell responded to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where officer spoke with caller about employees at the location not wearing masks or facial coverings when required. Officer met with employees and advised them they are required to wear masks, if not citations will be issued.
On July 16, Chief David Gilbreath spoke to caller in regard to a cashier inside a store in the 1000 block of Highway 159 not wearing a mask.
Criminal Mischief
On July 18, Wostarek responded to the 500 block of W. Lowerline where caller advised that someone had thrown a brick through the rear window of their vehicle. Officer arrived on location and took information for an incident report.
Family Violence
On July 12, Zwahr responded to an assault in the 500 block of W. Lowerline and the suspect was taken into custody.
Suspicious Vehicle/Person
On July 12, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to a suspicious vehicle at the city warehouse on Eblin Street. The vehicle was located and it was determined it was a city worker who was on call.
On July 12, Haman responded to the 500 block of E. Fannin in reference to several subjects drinking in the roadway and in a vacant lot. Upon arrival there were less than eight people on private property barbecuing and there were no subjects in the roadway.
On July 16, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a suspicious person. Officer checked on subject who was just resting.
Terroristic Threat
On July 15, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Fannin and upon arrival spoke with complainant who stated that the subject threatened her. Subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant and terroristic threat.
Theft
On July 13, Maxwell was dispatched to the 700 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a theft. Officer took information.
On July 13, Meinardus responded to the 900 block of N. Jefferson in regard to several chainsaws being stolen from a tree-trimming vehicle. Officer gathered information and completed report.
On July 17, Meinardus was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger Road and spoke with complainant who advised two females entered the store and after a short time began stuffing items in a duffle bag before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Officer searched the area but was not able to locate them.
Trespassing
On July 17, Patrolman Justin Koehne was dispatched to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business and issued subject a criminal trespass warning for the location.
Verbal Dispute
On July 13, Meinardus responded to the 300 block of Fireside Lane in regard to caller having an argument with her son and she wanted him to leave and calm down. Officer gave the subject a ride to a family members house.
On July 13, Meinardus spoke with complainant in the 300 block of Fireside Lane who stated that her son returned home and they began arguing again. Officer notified the subject to take a long walk and calm down.
On July 17, Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Travis in regard to two people who were arguing in their vehicle. Officer searched the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.
Welfare Check
On July 14, Meinardus notified subject that her partner was bonding out of jail due to the fact that she had a protective order against him.
On July 14, Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of Northpointe Avenue where caller stated that a male subject was walking down the street yelling and cussing and wanted officers to check on him. Officer spoke to the subject who had been in an argument and was upset so he was yelling at the air.
On July 16, Chief Gilbreath checked on a subject in the 900 block of E. Camp that has not been seen since June.
On July 18, Wostarek was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Horton in regard to a welfare check on a male subject. Officer arrived on location and located subject. Subject advised he was fine and was taking a break while walking home.
On July 18, Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of Highway 159 for a subject sitting under the overpass. Officer spoke to the subject who stated that he was walking and became overheated so he sat down to rest. Officer gave subject a ride to the location he was walking to.
Miscellaneous
On July 13, Meinardus was dispatched to the 500 block of Koening in regard to receiving numerous 911 calls from the location. They attempted to call back, but received no answer. Officer found that a young child was playing with a cell phone.
On July 13, Patrolman Brian Adams was dispatched to the 800 block of S. Reynolds where individual advised that drug paraphernalia was found on the property. Officer collected the paraphernalia and disposed of it.
