La Grange Police Respond to Assault, Burglaries
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 7-14.
Assault
On June 12, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Fannin to a possible assault. Officer took information and possible charges are pending.
Agency Assist
On June 13, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr assisted the Fayette County Sheriff’s officers with a disturbance in the 1000 block of FM 155.
Animal Complaint
On June 7, Patrolman Brian Adams was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Eblin where complainant advised that a large Rottweiler type dog chased him while jogging. Officer checked the area, but was unable to locate.
On June 7, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 600 block of S. Franklin where caller stated that a cat had crawled under his vehicle and he wanted to know how to get it out. Caller stated that he was on the phone with assistance when officer contacted him and he would get it out.
On June 13, Currington was flagged down at White Rock Park in the 900 block of Mode Lane in reference to some animals that had been abandoned. Officer transported animals to the shelter in La Grange.
Accident
On June 8, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to a twovehicle accident at the intersection of S. Brown and W. Travis Street. The at fault driver was cited for failing to yield right of way-stop sign.
On June 11, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of Colorado Street where caller stated that she was involved in a minor accident with a parked vehicle. Officer went to the location and gathered both parties information and completed an accident report.
On June 12, Haman responded to the 400 block of W. Travis for an accident and took information and one party was cited.
Burglary
On June 7, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 1700 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a burglary. Officer took information.
Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
On June 13, Zwahr responded to a call of a vehicle having been broken into in the 700 block of S. Jefferson. Officer took information.
Citizen Assist
On June 7, Meinardus spoke with individual in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business that wanted to know if there was a bus from La Grange to Fort Worth. Officer informed her that there was no direct bus route.
DWI/DUI
On June 13, Zwahr responded to a call in regard to a possibly intoxicated driver in the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Driver was arrested and transported to jail.
Disturbance
On June 11, Maxwell was dispatched to the 500 block of Koening Lane in regard to a disturbance. Officer took information for the report.
Reckless Driving
On June 10, Dispatch took a call of a truck driving reckless on S. Washington Street. Officer was unable to locate.
Suspicious Person
On June 10, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of N. Madison where complainant stated that there were two males on the roof at a nearby apartment building looking into his home. Officer advised they would patrol the area.
On June 10, Adams responded to the 900 block of S. Washington where complainant advised vehicle alarm went off and driver door was open. Door was not locked. No items were missing or sign of forced entry and no person was located in the area.
On June 11, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a suspicious person. Officer made contact with the subject and advised that he needed to leave and subject agreed to leave.
On June 12, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of Svoboda Lane for a suspicious person, but subject was gone upon officers arrival.
On June 13, Zwahr was dispatched to the 600 block of E. Pearl for a suspicious person in the area earlier in the day.
Traffic Hazard
On June 12, Currrington responded to Highway 71 Bypass for a vehicle with an unsecured load. Officer found the vehicle and had the driver secure the load before continuing.
Warrant Arrest
On June 8, Patrolman David Mohr received a call in the 2100 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a male subject who had pushed a female and upon arrival officer found the male subject. The subject was wanted on a warrant from out of state and he was arrested.
Miscellaneous
On June 7, Meinardus took a call from an individual in the 700 block of N. Jefferson who stated that a vehicle was parked in his driveway and he couldn’t park his truck there. The owner of the vehicle moved it while officer was speaking with caller.
On June 7, Meinardus was dispatched to the 300 block of W. Colorado where caller reported that the FedEx box was open, so officer closed the door which locked automatically.
On June 7, Maxwell was dispatched to the 800 block of N. Jefferson in regard to loud music. Officer spoke with the homeowner and had him turn the music down. A warning was issued.
On June 8, Mohr received a 911hang-up call in the 1700 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. The call was made accidentally.
On June 8, Zwahr responded to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller advised they had found someone’s property in the parking lot. Officer retrieved the property.
On June 8, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass where complainant located an overlay faceplate on a Verifone credit card reader stationed at the point of sale.
On June 9, Haman responded to the 600 block of S. Jefferson in reference to a vehicle that was left in the parking lot over night with a flat tire. Officer located the owner of the vehicle and he made contact with the shop owner to make arrangements to move it.
On June 10, Patrolman Brian Adams spoke with a complainant about being contacted that she won a sweepstakes prize but had to purchase a gift card to receive it. Officer advised that it was a scam and recommended that she not do it.
On June 11, Adams responded to the 100 block of E. Fannin where complainant advised a subject broke a window in the vehicle and interfered with making an emergency call for assistance.
On June 13, Currington made contact with a subject in the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass who advised a credit card skimmer at a location in La Grange took his credit card information.
