La Grange Officer Rescues Pup from Hole
City of La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following activities his department responded to during the week of April 26 through May 3.
Animal Complaint
On April 26, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business regarding a dog in a vehicle. Wostarek arrived and located the vehicle. The windows were cracked and water was available for the dog to drink.
On April 27, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business regarding an animal complaint. The caller advised that his dog fell in a hole and he couldn’t get him out. Maxwell was able to rescue the dog.
On April 28, Patrolman Cari Haman met with a complainant at Back Porch BBQ & Grill in the 1600 block of N. Jefferson in reference to a deer carcass on the property.
On April 29, Maxwell was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Walnut in regard to an animal complaint.
On April 30, Maxwell spoke with a caller regarding an animal complaint in the 700 block of S. Jefferson.
On May 2, Haman met with a subject in the 1500 block of Highway 159 who advised that there was a calf out on the roadway. The calf was put up and an attempt to contact the landowner was unsuccessful.
Criminal Mischief
On April 27, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr took information on a report of criminal mischief in the 400 block of N. Main.
On April 27, Haman obtained information about damage to property in the 100 block of Hope Avenue.
On May 3, Patrolman David Mohr while on routine patrol observed that numerous lights above the building on the south side of the street in the 200 block of W. Travis had been removed and thrown into the street and parking lot.
DWI
On April 27, Patrolman Justin Koehne stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Travis for a traffic violation. The driver showed signs of intoxication and was given a field sobriety test. The driver was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center for processing.
Disorderly Conduct
On April 30, Maxwell was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place regarding a patient in the emergency room who was being irate and not cooperating with the nurses. Maxwell was able to calm the patient down.
On May 2, Zwahr responded to an irate customer at a business in the 1800 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass.
Found Property
On April 29, Patrolman Brett Meinardus met with a citizen in the 1800 block of Highway 159 who wanted to turn in a billfold to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office that he found in the parking lot of Diggs Real Estate.
Reckless Driving
On April 26, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 700 block of N. Main for a report of motorcycles speeding on the street.
Suspicious Person
On April 26, Wostarek was notified of a suspicious person carrying a gun and wearing body armor in the 1000 block of E. Travis. The subject was wearing a survival vest and did not have a gun.
On April 28, Mohr received a call of people drinking in front of an abandoned house in the 800 block of E. Fannin. Mohr arrived and found several people talking on the street.
On May 1, Mohr received a call from a complainant in the 800 block of Jackson Street that a white male was knocking on his house and was unwanted. The subject was on a bicycle and was a taller white male.
Terroristic Threat
On April 27, Zwahr responded to a threat in the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Upon arrival the subject was gone.
On May 2, Mohr received a call of a subject with a gun in the 900 block of E. Fannin. Mohr met with the suspect and found that he did not have a gun.
Verbal Dispute
On April 29, Meinardus responded to the 2300 block of W. Travis where a caller stated that there was an argument with a customer in the drive thru because she refused to take her order because she was afraid of the virus. The subject had left the location prior to police arriving.
On April 30, Wostarek was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place for a verbal disturbance. Wostarek arrived on location and spoke with a male subject. Officer stayed on location until subject calmed down.
On April 30, Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jackson in regard to a verbal dispute.
Welfare Check
On April 29, Mohr received a call of a welfare concern in the 300 block of Woodhollow. Upon arrival Mohr found a large amount of empty beer cans and reported this to the caller.
On April 29, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Jefferson for a welfare check. Wostarek made contact with individual and all was fine.
On May 2, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Upperline for a welfare check and subject was fine.
Miscellaneous
On April 30, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of N. Horton for loud music. Meinardus asked the homeowner to turn down the music.
On May 1, Haman was dispatched to the 400 block of S. College for two males soliciting tree-trimming services.
On May 1, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of S. Main for a possible fire at a residence. There was no fire.
