Kolache Debate & Franken-Meat Discussions Earn Local Students National Recognition
Several Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Virtual National Qualifier 4-H Contests in July. Mackenzie Poncik competed in the Open Family and Community Health Educational Presentation and placed 3rd overall. Her topic was “The Debate: Kolache vs. Klobasniky vs. Pig in the Blanket. Taylor Limbaugh competed in the Public Speaking Contest and placed 3rd overall. Her topic was “Franken-Meat.” Mackenzie Poncik, Abbey Nedbalek, and Austin Nedbalek competed in the Consumer Decision Making Contest. Due to COVID, Texas 4-H Roundup was canceled in June. The virtual contests gave senior 4-H members an opportunity to compete and advance to Nationals.
