Czhilispiel 50 Celebrated in Flatonia Over The Weekend

Thousands of visitors flocked to the 50th annual Flatonia Czhilispiel this past weekend. Organizers reported 267 teams competed in the famous “Czhili” cook-off, which started with six teams in 1973 as a fundraiser to help bring a resident doctor to the town. Country music star Easton Corbin headlined this year’s entertainment Saturday night. Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick reported no major issues with the event, other than a few medical calls and one incident involving juveniles that occurred just outside the event in which no one was harmed.
