Joy Hostetter Celebrates 80th Birthday

Birthdays

Joy Hostetter celebrated turning 80 with her family on the weekend. Pimy and Michael Saunders hosted a little family get together with Mike Hostetter, Madison and Julio Castellano, Wanda Saunders and Bobby and Donna Saunders. They enjoyed cake with lots of laughter and joy. It had been a while since the family had all been together, so they really enjoyed catching up and visiting.

Also celebrating a birthday was Mitchell Cherry. Mitchell celebrated turning six by having a couple of friends over for a sleep-over.

Another celebrating their birthday was Ron Knotts. It seems the last week of July was a popular week for birthdays in the area.

Muldoon was blessed with rain this past week. Two and three quarters inches fell at our home west of Muldoon. There were some places that received more rain while others less. It all depended on the location of the clouds. Overall, the rain fell in such a way that most of the rain was soaked up by the ground and returned the grass back to a green color.

Out and About

Dana and Darrell Kulak were happy to have their daughter, Cynthia Kulak, come in from Austin for a quick visit.

Wedding Shower

Penny and Steven McFarlin were married back at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown and were unable to celebrate with family and friends. On Sunday, they were honored with a post-wedding couples’ shower hosted by Anne Write, who was aided by Janis Syrinek and Amanda Syrinek Castaneda with decorations and games. Ten others were in charge of the food at the Flatonia Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon.

At the bride’s request, they were served cucumber tea sandwiches as the main item to dine on, along with other delicious treats. Steven’s parents, Diane and Daniel Rodela, and Walter McFarlin and his wife Maureen Bester were in attendance, which was very special for the couple.

There were some really fun games that the men at the shower participated in, which included making a purple veil for the groom to wear and a round of the Newlywed Game (where a few of the old married couples did not fare so good). All was taken with great humor.

The couple hopes to one day take a honeymoon outside of Muldoon when all of the COVID-19 restrictions settles down. Until then, the couple is enjoying life in the country surrounded by family and friends.
