To the Editor: I have not sided with Judge

I have not sided with Judge Weber on all issues since he has held the office of County Judge. However, something happened during the shutdown and quarantine measures. A friend and I who walk regularly had the opportunity to meet and visit with him several times outside the courthouse. He walked by and asked us if we were doing okay. We told him we are blessed. We listened to his concerns and he listened to us. His main concern was for people in this county who would struggle and suffer financially, emotionally and physically.

Why did he worry? Because he has seen the destruction and suffering in other nations during his career that have devastated many lives and livelihoods from bad decisions of governments. After reading articles of his in this paper, listening to updates on the radio, visiting in person with him, I know he is our county leader, by the grace of God, for such a time as this. He asked for our prayers for him and county employees. I also agree with him on the mask mandate imposed by Governor Abbott. While traveling in Asia, the ones wearing masks are the sick ones, not healthy individuals. Masks cause hypoxemia for me.

We also met Craig Moreau. He stopped to visit at the courthouse with us. We thanked him for his watch and care and long hours working. For his tough decisions he has to make with rapid changes to COVID test sites, cases, quarantine watches for those positive cases, working with multiple counties and the unfortunate deaths. I feel he tries to evaluate with trust and honesty the oversight needed on all these events/decisions so that statistics can be gained with facts and not political leanings that distort facts. He even told us about how local EMS crews rapidly designed and built barriers for their team mates to serve the patients and protect each other should the patient have COVID while transporting.

So, let us begin to pray II Chronicles 7:14 for our county, state, nation and world. We can do this the right way which is God’s way and He will bless us abundantly.
