Imposter Alert Issued Regarding Local ‘Nurse’
The Texas Board of Nursing says it will issue an “imposter alert” and refer criminal charges against a woman with a business in Flatonia who offered to sell botox injections without a license.
The Record obtained details about the case through a public information request with the Flatonia Police Department. According to the documents we received, Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick initiated the investigation.
An incident report that Dick filed stated that last November he noticed a new member announcement in a Flatonia Chamber of Commerce newsletter for a business called Pharmhouse Aesthetics Co. The notice included a photograph of the company founder, Hailey Foster Maidlow, who described herself as a registered nurse. The notice said that Maidlow offered services such as botox injections and planned to offer other services including an “IV bar,” microneedling, dermal threads, migraine, TMJ treatments and tattoo removal.
In his incident report, which was dated April 22 of this year, Dick said he was a licensed paramedic in addition to being a police officer.
“I am aware both of the requirement for appropriate Medical Direction and the potential risks associated with any invasive procedure,” Dick wrote in his incident report. “And equally aware of the dangers associated with mis- See use or improper administration of botulism toxin or IV infusions. Further, without appropriate licensing or training and without any known Physician/ Medical Director associated with this individual or advertised business, I am aware that possession of IV infusions or dangerous drugs would require a prescription to obtain legally, and without medical direction, these items should not be available to Maidlow.”
Dick submitted the incident report to the Board of Nursing. On May 26, the Board of Nursing sent Dick a letter stating they completed an investigation into Maidlow. “After a thorough review of all information and facts gathered in our investigation, a Cease and Desist letter was issued to the individual requiring him/her to immediately cease the practice of nursing in this state,” the letter said.
The letter went on to say that the Board of Nursing was recommending criminal charges to be filed against Maidlow for unauthorized practice as a nurse. In addition, the board said it would issue an imposter alert against Maidlow.
The Record reached out to Maidlow last week. She declined to comment and said she was seeking legal counsel.
