Helen Mikus Honored with Birthday Parade

Helen Mikus was honored with a birthday parade on Sunday, May 31, in honor of her 95th birthday. Mrs. Mikus was seated in her driveway and many friends and relatives drove past her house to wish her a happy birthday.

Flag Retirement

The Shelby American Legion Post 602 will be holding a Flag Retirement ceremony on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Legion Hall located on FM 1457 in Shelby. Anyone having flags that need to be retired is encouraged to bring them that day or get them to a Post member by June 12. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Food Truck

The Mobile Food Pantry truck will be in Waldeck on Friday, June 19, from 10-11 a.m. The distribution of food will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on FM 1291.

The truck will be in Fayetteville on Tuesday, June 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 209 E. Bell Street. Note the different date; there will be no distribution at Fayetteville in July.

No VBS

The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will not be having their annual Vacation Bible School in July because of the coronavirus. Those interested in activities for the children may visit the church’s website for information in the weekly bulletin.

No SLM Day Camp

The Shared Lutheran Ministry Day Camp that is held in July has been cancelled. The team at Lutherhill that helps sponsor this event has decided to cancel for this year.

Birthdays

Birthday wishes are extended to the following celebrants: Cheryl Bauer and Jeff Kovar - June 15; and a belated happy birthday to Gavin Pietsch - 11.

Anniversaries

Anniversary wishes are extended to Jim and Gladys Schmitt, celebrating on June 18. Belated 69th anniversary wishes are extended to Ivan and Katherine Cordes - 2.
