Heifer Back Home After Escaping Pen

Emma Kubala got her heifer back last Friday, Sept. 4.

The calf was loose for a week after it escaped a pen at the Fairgrounds in La Grange during the Fayette County Junior Heifer Show on Aug. 28. As reported in last Tuesday’s Record, the calf went down the steep embankment behind the Houston;tjohnson;Reeder’s Air Conditioning & Heating;C main stage at the Fairgrounds. It had been roaming in the brush along the Colorado River ever since.

Heifer show organizer Lee Fritsch told the Record that Kubala’s father trapped the heifer Friday morning and got it back to their place in Schulenburg.

“I’m happy the story had a good ending,” Fritsch said.
