Gladys Giese Remembered with 50 Years of Warda News Plaque
Condolences
Our condolences to the family of longtime Warda news correspondent, Gladys Giese, who passed away on Wednesday, June 3, after a battle with cancer.
Sympathies are also extended to Donna Thomas and her family on the loss of her husband, Jorge Thomas, who passed away Saturday, May 30.
And condolences are extended to the family of Alvin Schautschick, who passed away on Wednesday, June 5.
New Post Office Clerk
The Warda Post Office will soon have a new clerk. Toni is currently in training and she should be working in Warda within the next week.
Camp Lost Pines
Camp Lost Pines has cancelled all of their summer camps. They are currently the base for Samaritans Purse volunteers who are building the new homes in La Grange’s Hope Hill subdivision. As of this week, 12 volunteers are staying at the camp. When areas of the country reopen, more volunteers will be staying there. They expect 25-40 very soon.
Lehmann Fish Fry
Robert Lehmann hosted a fish fry at his home on Friday, June 5. Attending were Aaron and Calli Lehmann of Ridgecrest, California, along with their children Chase, Bailey and Marley; Justin and Brenda Lehmann of College Station, along with their children, Adella and Clay. Also attending were Doug and Linda Lehmann.
Church Picnic
Holy Cross Lutheran is in the planning stage for their church picnic to be held on Sunday, Sept. 6. Handmade items and crafts are always great auction items. If you’d like to start working on items to donate, they would greatly appreciate it.
Services Resume
Services are back on schedule at Holy Cross in Warda. They are currently offering two options: Sunday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 11 a.m. Bible Class follows the Sunday morning service.

Sunday School Zoom

Holy Cross Ladies Aid
The Ladies Aid will be hosting a virtual online watch party of the LWML convention on Saturday, June 20. Lunch will be catered by QueZeen BBQ.
Sewing Circle
The sewing circle is planning to resume on Thursday, July 9.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
Plans are underway to start meeting again on July 1. More details coming soon.
Faith Lutheran High School
The new summer office hours for Faith Lutheran High will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
New student registration is underway; to schedule a shadow day to check out FLHS, call (979) 242-2889 or visit the website www.faithlutheranhighschool.com.
The faculty has part-time openings in any subject areas for the 2020-2021 academic year. Contact the school to submit a resume.
Cancelled/Postponed Events
Warda Farm Bureau has cancelled their family night that was scheduled for June 26.
Vacation Bible School has been cancelled.
The Faith Lutheran golf tournament has been postponed.
All summer camps at Faith Lutheran have been cancelled.
Senior Tuesday game days are cancelled until further notice.
AMEN Food Pantry
Holy Cross Lutheran Church continues to be a drop-off point for the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange. You can drop off nonperishable food items in the designated basket in the hallway at your convenience.
Aluminum Cans
There is a large wire collection bin at the picnic grounds for you to drop off your aluminum cans. The funds benefit Trail Life 143 of Giddings.
Recycle Trailer
Recycling is collected at the Warda Self Storage facility; a trailer with designated bins is there for your convenience.
Prayer Requests
William Jurk, Amy Wagner, Reba Sadler, Eugene Zoch, Wesley Cervenka, Frank and Reedy Schwartz, Annie Mae Fick and JC Kaiser, who suffered a stroke last week and is in the hospital.
Birthdays
Birthday wishes are extended to the following celebrants: Tanner Jurk, Jason Tegtmeier and Tucker Briscoe-June 14; Ryan Zoch-16; and Jerry Kingsbery-18.
New Arrival
Congratulations to Zane and Frances Gray on the birth of their great-grandson, Bryson Blasig, born to their granddaughter, Alexa and Mayson Blasig on May 29.
Graduation
Andrew Bamsch, son of Rev. Duane and Stephanie Bamsch of Grass Valley, California, and grandson of Ralph and Carolyn Bamsch of Warda, graduated from Nevada Union High School on Saturday, June 6. He will be either pursuing a career in the military or attending a trade school.
