Funeral Home Hosts Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony

This year Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations decided to hold their annual Memorial Day Ceremony virtually due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures and in accordance with the CDC and local County Judge recommendations.

“We thought it was still very important to continue our tradition of holding our Memorial Day Ceremony because it gives us the opportunity to really remember the significance of today and of course remember our fallen soldiers who risked their lives and provided the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” said Amber Belvill-Carroll during the virtual ceremony. She continued, “They are the ones who are the true heroes and very much deserve to be remembered and celebrated today for their sacrifice.”

The Invocation was done by Dr. Steve Brown, the pastor of the First Baptist Church in La Grange and the Memorial Day Address was given by John Belvill. Mr. Belvill’s address gave us a bit more reflection on Memorial Day, especially the difference between duty and privilege when it comes to going in the military and serving your country. The address was followed by calling the roll of deceased veterans which was said by Amber Belvill-Carroll.

Dick Frenzel and Joseph Carroll did the Retiring of Colors, Placement of New Colors and the Placement of Memorial Wreath. Taps was then played and the ceremony concluded with the Pledge of Allegiance by Leon Humphreys.
