Fayetteville, Round Top Formulate Plans for the Reopening of Schools

Fayette County’s smallest public schools, Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine, have formulated their plans for the re-opening of their schools. Both in-school and at-home options are being offered. Below are excerpts from information sent to parents last week:

In Fayetteville :

Fayetteville ISD will be starting school on August 24, 2020. This date is a week later than our original start date. The move will allow for our teachers and staff to receive additional training, as well as provide more time for them to prepare for the arrival of students, both remote and in-person ... as a small rural district, there are numerous operational and logistical challenges we will face trying to provide multiple learning platforms this year. However, these inevitable trials remind me of a quote by Jerry Dunn, “We should not limit our challenges, instead challenge our limits.” There is little doubt, the circumstances surrounding our current situation have truly challenged our limits. The struggles we felt in the spring, the frustrations we are experiencing now, and the many hurdles we will have to overcome in the months ahead are simply the ladder rungs by which we will reach new heights.

In RT-C :

Round Top-Carmine ISD has developed a plan for safely reopening school at the end of August. To help students and staff with the logistics of this transition, campuses will have staggered start dates on each campus. On Monday, August 24 only 10th through 12th and 4th through 6th grades will be allowed on campus. On Tuesday, August 25 7th through 9th and Pre-K through 3rd graders will attend classes while the other grade levels stay home. There will be no bus transportation on these two days. Normal bus schedules will resume on Wednesday, August 26 when all grade levels return to campus. Additionally, schools will not open until 7:30, so please do not drop your child off before then as they will not be allowed to enter the building early.
