Is the Museum and Archives open?

We’re currently open to visitors by appointment only. Call 979-968-3765 or email archives@ cityoflg.com to schedule an appointment, which are available on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 to 3 and Saturdays from 10 to 1. We ask that you wear a mask and use the hand sanitizer provided at the door.

I don’t want to travel during the COVID epidemic. Can you do look-ups for me?

Yes. We are spending a lot more time than usual on email and phone requests. We’ll do our best to answer your questions and send you copies from our files. We encourage you to use our online catalog to get an idea of what is available to you.

What has the Archives staff been doing while the Archives is closed?

Rox Ann Johnson and Maria Rocha have never stopped working. Besides answering emails and phone calls, they have been using this time to accession and catalog our backlog of donations. There are still many items in our vaults that need to be added to our catalogs, so check it periodically for new listings. They have also taken this quieter time to conduct research and improve the information in previous listings.

Are you currently taking donated items?

Yes. If you are like us, you are using some of this extra time at home to clean out drawers and closets.

If you run across anything useful for the Museum and Archives, we will be happy to arrange a time for you to drop off donations while still maintaining social distancing.

We are happy to accept unidentified photographs, as long as they are good quality and related to Fayette County. Call 979-968-3765 or email archives@cityoflg.com to make arrangements for transferring items safely.
