Fayette County Sheriff Investigating Burglary of a Residence Near Cistern

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of July 2020.

Deputy Terry Guentert responded to a residence in the Cistern area for a reported burglary. The victim reported forced entry into the residence and numerous guns and hunting supplies missing. Guentert also responded to the Schulenburg area to meet with a complainant who reported suspicious people and activities around the residence. The complainant was found to be mentally ill and was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Deputy Ben Wilson responded to an abandoned vehicle on State Highway 71 exit ramp near Oviedo. The vehicle was a traffic hazard and was impounded. Wilson also responded to an apartment off of Hrbacek Street for a welfare check. The tenant was found deceased and died of natural causes.

Deputy Marc Bennett took an assault report where a female reported that her husband assaulted her in the early morning hours. A report was taken and charges are pending. Bennett also took an alleged sexual assault report from a female who reports the crime happened on North Kirtley Road. Case is under investigation.

Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to a residence where the resident alleged an intruder was in the house and fled. There was no description and no one was located in the area. Naumann also took a report of a fraudulent unemployment benefits claim by another person using the victim’s information and social security number.

Deputy Ryan Meagher stopped a driver of a vehicle for multiple traffic violations and during the stop located cocaine in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to an inquest on Kruppa Road. The cause of death was deemed natural. Jobb also responded to a disturbance between husband and wife at a residence off of Gray Lane. No assault occurred and the two were separated for the remainder of the day.

Investigator Garrett Durrenberger responded to an abandoned vehicle call in the Round Top area. The truck was parked in the roadway and was impounded.

Deputy Darrell Maze was dispatched to property off of State Highway 71 where property was taken. The property was later located in Wharton County and recovered. Case is currently under investigation.

Deputy James Ulbig responded to Munke Road for a disturbance. There a female was located and intoxicated. She was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Adam Mack stopped the driver of a vehicle for a traffic violation on Spur 92 near US Hwy 77. A male and female were found to be in possession of methamphetamine and were arrested. Mack also responded to an attempted suicide where a male subject shot himself. Medics arrived on scene and the patient was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Deputy Kenn Kretz assisted with a pursuit on IH 10 where suspects were eventually stopped near Flatonia and were found in possession of narcotics and illegal firearms. Deputy Joe Gonzales stopped the driver of a vehicle and during the stop located narcotics in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Gonzales also provided transportation of a mental health patient to Georgetown for further treatment.

Deputy Michael Krenek responded to a disturbance in the Schulenburg area. One adult female was arrested for assault. Krenek also responded to another disturbance in the La Grange area where two males were arrested for two separate warrants. One warrant was from Fayette County, and the other from Travis County.

Deputy Jared Michalec responded to Konetzke Lane in reference to a found firearm. Michalec was able to locate an owner and returned the firearm. Michalec also took a burglary of a vehicle report from a resident in the Frisch Auf! area.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 61 individuals for the month of July.
