Fake License Plates – Times Two

Schulenburg Police arrested a Flatonia man for displaying a set of fake license plates on his vehicle last week.

According to a report from Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek, Sgt. Tobey McFadden stopped a 2004 GMC 2500 pickup on May 5 after noticing the suspicious-looking license plates. The vehicle was driven by 50-year-old James Rodney Plummer of Flatonia.

Brenek said McFadden looked up the license plate numbers and learned they were registered to a Freightliner truck in Laredo. When McFadden informed Plummer of this, Brenek said, Plummer produced another set of plates which were also found to be fictitious. In addi-tion, Brenek said Plummer presented McFadden with fake auto insurance documents.

“He basically created his own insurance on paper,” Brenek said.

McFadden arrested Plummer on a charge of tampering with a government record.

In other news from the Schulenburg Police, Brenek said officers Vincent and Roggenkamp investigated the vandalism of a school bus at Schulenburg ISD. Brenek said the school notified police on May 4 about the damage. The school reported that the bus had not been driven since April 30. Sometime in between those dates, Brenek said, someone used a baseball or another similar object to crack the windshield and break a turn signal off the bus.
