Drunk Driving, Drug Arrests Made

Fayette County Deputies arrested an alleged drunk driver and a passenger on a back road near Ammannsville Saturday evening.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, a resident on East Radhost School Road called deputies around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, to report a vehicle driving recklessly. The caller said the vehicle appeared to have been involved in an accident and would travel just a few feet before stopping and then resume driving.

The report said deputies located the vehicle near 1400 East Radhost School Rd. and observed the occupants throwing beer bottles out of the vehicle.

“Both the driver and the passenger were found to be extremely intoxicated. The driver was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and the passenger was also arrested for Public Intoxication.

Then on Sunday morning, Aug. 9, around 3 a.m., Deputies Ryan Meagher and Adam Mack responded to a call reporting a wrong-way driver on Highway 71 between La Grange and Ellinger. The vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. Meagher and Mack located the vehicle just east of La Grange and were able to get it stopped.

“Deputy Meagher conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on the driver who was found to be extremely intoxicated,” the report said.

The driver was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Meagher also stopped a vehicle earlier that same day for a traffic violation near 700 South Kirtley Road. The driver was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. The driver was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office conducted a narcotics raid in Schulenburg on Friday.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, the Fayette County Narcotics Unit searched a home with the assistance of Sheriff’s Deputies and the Schulenburg Police Department. Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said the search took place at a home in the 100 block of Baumgarten Street on the east side of town.

“One subject was subsequently arrested after ecstasy, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia were located in the residence,” the report stated
