Deputy Arrests Two on Narcotics Charges in Different Traffic Stops
A Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy arrested two motorists on drug charges Saturday night in separate traffic stops.
According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday July 11, at approximately 8 p.m., Deputy Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Acura Integra for multiple traffic violations on Highway 71 near Morgan Road.
“Deputy Meagher observed the driver to be extremely nervous,” the report stated. “Meagher was given consent to search the vehicle.”
The driver, identified as Jose Diaz, 40 of Houston, was found to be in possession of cocaine.
Diaz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
At around 10:30 p.m. that same evening, Meagher stopped a 1994 Buick Park Avenue for numerous traffic violations on Highway 71 near Loop 230.
“The vehicle was slow to come to a stop which raised suspicion,” the report said. “Meagher located marijuana which the driver attempted to conceal on his person.”
The driver identified as Clifton Jackson, 37 of Smithville, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
