County Tax Hearing Set for 6 p.m. Wednesday

Fayette County Commissioners will hold a public hearing tonight at 6 p.m. inside the district courtroom. The hearing concerns the proposed property tax rate. Commissioners proposed a rate of $0.464 per $100 of taxable property. That is the same tax rate as last year. Due to rising property values in Fayette County, the new tax rate effectively raised taxes by 1.7 percent. The public is welcome to offer comments about the tax rate at tonight’s meeting. The district courtroom is located on the second floor of the Fayette County Courthouse in La Grange.
