County Records Third Official Coronavirus Death

The Fayette County Office of Emergency Management confirmed on Monday that another Fayette County resident died from COVID-19 on Saturday, June 27. The deceased was a 92-year-old man from the La Grange area (although he lived in Pct. 4). He was hospitalized at the time of his death.

It marked the third official death attributed to coronavirus in Fayette County. A woman in her 90s from Carmine also died from the virus back in April, but she was living in a Brenham nursing home at the time and her death was attributed to Washington County.

As of Thursday morning, July 2, 94 people in Fayette County have tested positive for coronavirus. That’s up from 76 positive cases the week before. There have been 30 recoveries. County officials did not know the status of five patients who previously tested positive. That leaves 56 known active cases. One person is currently hospitalized and in serious condition.

Of the active cases: 30 are in Pct. 1 (La Grange area), seven are in Pct. 2 (Round Top and Fayetteville area), 10 are in Pct. 3 (Flatonia area), seven in Pct. 4 (Schulenburg area). The County did not know the precise location of two patients.
