Collision Averted

A man from the Fort Worth area barely avoided a head-on collision on US 77 north of Schulenburg last Friday, but his pickup ended up in the ditch.

According to a crash report from DPS Trooper April Galvan-Usher, the accident happened around 8:57 p.m. The report said 21-year-old Tyler Everett Robinson of Benbrook was driving a maroon 2007 Dodge Ram pickup south on US 77 and attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle.

A vehicle heading north approached as Robinson attempted to pass. Robinson was unable to clear the northbound lane in time. His pickup entered the ditch on the east side of the road. The pickup struck a storm drain and a fence before coming to rest facing west.

No one was injured, and Usher did not issue any citations.
