Cocaine Found at the Checkout Counter

Someone left their cocaine at the counter of Sutherland’s Lumber in La Grange. It’s now at the La Grange Police Station, in case anyone is looking for it.

According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Sutherland’s called police around 12:50 p.m. on Monday, May 4, reporting a powdery substance in a bag at one of the counters. Officer Bret Meinardus responded and collected the bag. Gilbreath said police conducted a field test of the powdery substance which was identified as cocaine. “It was a lot, probably about

“It was a lot, probably about $400 worth of cocaine,” Gilbreath said.

Gilbreath speculated that a customer may have accidentally pulled the bag out of their pocket with their money while paying at the counter.

“They either forgot about it and lost it or they got spooked and didn’t want to pick it back up,” Gilbreath said.

Possession of cocaine is a felony crime in Texas.
