RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD plans to safely reopen school, beginning Aug. 24. Campuses will have staggered start dates. On Monday, Aug. 24, only grades 10 through 12 and grades 4 through 6 will be allowed on campus. On Tuesday, Aug. 25, grades 7 through 9 and pre-K through grade 3 will attend classes, while the others stay home. No bus transportation will be provided these two days. Normal bus schedules will resume on Wednesday, Aug. 26, when all grade levels return to campus.
There are many safety precautions for travelling on the bus, on campus and in classes. Go to the school website at www.rtcisd.net for detailed information.
Virtual Learning is an option, with daily attendance requirements applied to this form of instruction also. If you choose distance learning, please contact Mrs. Kuecker or Mrs. Schoen no later than Aug. 14. Students may choose to switch from distance learning to in-class instruction at the end of a six-week grading period.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone that a burn ban is in effect for Fayette County. This means no burning of any kind. Please obey the rules of the county.
Drill night and the regular meeting for August are pending; they may or may not be held.
Sympathies
Sympathy is extended to the family of Hubert Stiewert, Jr., who passed away on July 13. He moved back to the Carmine area in 2010 after living in Houston for almost 40 years. He was a kind person and will be missed by all who knew him.
Casino Night Rescheduled
The 6th Annual Carmine Chamber of Commerce Casino night has been postponed to Oct. 10. It is normally held in August, but the chamber voted to reschedule due to COVID-19.
The Chamber also has T-shirts and hats for sale. Both items are a great way to offer support for our “Little City with a Big Heart.”
