Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery (holding the banner on the right) led a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday morning, Oct. 10. About 60 people participated in the walk from La Grange High School to the Fayette Public Library. A program was held on the library grounds to recognize cancer survivors and mourn those we have lost. The theme for the event was “Every story is unique, every journey matters.” Mayor Dockery, a breast cancer survivor herself, spoke about the importance of women sharing their experiences of living with breast cancer. This year’s event was dedicated to the memory of Beth McKenzie, who passed away from cancer this year. Laurie Quitta spoke in her honor and read a letter from Beth’s daughter, Terra McKenzie.
