August Meeting American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 is Cancelled

Out of continued and abundant caution to protect the health and safety of the post members the monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 has been cancelled.

Post Commander Lyn Reavis stated, “The post held a unique and very successful meeting on July 2nd allowing our members and auxiliary members to ‘attend’ by participating in a driveby catered meal provided in take-home plates. It was a great way to check up on our members and to provide a meal for them to enjoy. However, after reviewing current conditions regarding the COVID-19 virus, the Executive Committee of the post, decided that we should cancel this month’s meeting. This cancellation is in keeping with the declaration of a national emergency by the President of the United States, and notifications from the Governor of the State of Texas, and the County Judge for Fayette County. We will continue to monitor the situation and alert our members of any further changes in our meeting dates.” Mr. Reavis reported that the Ladies Auxiliary for the post will also not meet in August. The Executive Committee will meet during the coming month to review the current status of the post budget and to continue with necessary repairs and improvements to the building.

Members will be receiving their monthly newsletter in the mail and are encouraged to attend the next meeting scheduled for Thursday Sept. 3, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise notified. Commander Reavis requested that members also pay close attention to their newspapers and radio for updates during the month of August. The next meeting will focus on increasing the post membership with the recent change in eligibility rules adopted by American Legion and take nominations for officer positions to serve for the next year.

American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 meets the first Thursday of each month at their hall located at 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top, Texas 78954. Meetings begin promptly at 7:30 p.m..
